Some of what we did was out of my comfort zone but i did enjoy some thing a little different and outside of the box.

New project
This week we have started a new project where we have done things a little differently, in our first lesson we started off by doing an activity in a sort of drama form where we would do different actions when an instruction was shouted, then we looked at some art, and looked at pieces which were done by matice where we then moved onto shadow outlines as matice used to instruct his models to lay on the canvas and draw round them which is then what we did, aterwards we then made wire models which we made from the outlines we drew and added in some organs like the brain, heart n lungs. After this we then moved onto stop motion where we drew parts of barnsley on the windows of barnsley college, taking photos of the sketches every five minutes, after this we then did a flash mob where all the class had to perform a scene which was then recorded and played back to us.

Animal project evaluation
When i first found that we would be looking at peter clark and collage work i found this as kind of a disappointment as i am open to trying anything with in the world of art but collage is one of my weak points so i found this project a little challenging. My research sheet on peter clark didn't turn out as well as i had hoped as the collage was not neet or full. For this project we had to choose 3 animals to explore, the 3 i explored were the bear because i keep my guard up but i am strong, the wolf because i am independent and the dolphin because i am caring. Over all i chose to be the wolf because i thought it would be an animal that i could experiment with as it has been caught on camera in different positions for example, when it is standing in the forest or when it is layed in the grass waiting to pounce. In the end we had to create a model of our chosen animal and I chose to create a 3D piece as i thought it would be the only way to capture the wolfs stance and give the animal a good look as well as going the extra mile so to speak to make my work worth a better mark. I used the slot method where you slot each piece together after i researched the work of others, i would say my work is ok but then again modeling is another one of my weak points with in art but over all i would rate my method of modeling as 6/10 because it could have been better with the way it was constructed and cut. In a way i would say that i have improved my modeling skills in the sense that i have experimented and gained more knowledge and know how in modeling. I think my time management through this project could have been a little better but i have managed to hand in all work on time through out the project. I do feel i could have produced a better standard with my final piece but apart from that and my artist research i would say my work is to a good standard as the work has filled the pages and helped to inspire my final piece. Over all i did like the project to a certain extent as it has helped me learn new skills and open my mind to new things in the modeling art category but there is still the feeling of that i would not like to revisit collage in this sense but yes overall i enjoyed the project and learnt new skills.

experimental portrait project evaluation
for this project I decided to do a self portrait instead of a portrait of one of my peers as I felt I wasn't confident enough to do a portrait of one of my peers. For my artist research I looked at Karl Schmidt and his work appealed to me as it seemed simple but then again the detail was well done in his pieces. another artist I looked at was Henri Matisse, his work appealed to me as he used colours to express the mood of the person in the portrait and painted his pieces with great detail and his own style. the last artist I researched was Ernst Ludwig Kirchner who I chose because his work was in pastel which I liked more than Matisse and Schmidt's and I worked better in pastel. in this project I applied media such as acrylic paint to give colour as well as texture and for shading I used coloured pencil as well as paint. I also used sgraffito to draw a self portrait to add a certain effect of bright colour and vibrant effects. In my opinion my mood board turned out well as the drawing and painting is to the best of my abilities and I have used a range of media over the 2 mood boards such as: sgraffito, acrylic paint, coloured and tonal shading pencils as well as water colour paints. I have work hard on these mood boards adding detail and making these works, pieces to be pleased of. I think my final piece is effective with incorporating coloured pencil to add detail which I think has added some but may need more detail, inks to create an individual background as well as using sgraffito to create half of my face also showing there are 2 sides to me like there is to every one which has worked well and in my opinion is the best part of the piece, I have also used collage to give some parts of this piece a 3D effect so it comes of the page and I have used water colours to some what shade in areas which haven't had enough detail added to them. I do think I should have added a little bit of mono printing into my final piece and maybe some graphite on white emulsion to show I had used all of the medias we could have. I feel my experimental drawing skills have improved due to using and experimenting with the different medias. in my opinion I have managed my time well giving that every thing was handed in on time with a good standard of quality too. I feel I have produced the best mood boards with the time given as I have used all medias and techniques but I do think I could have done more with my final piece by adding more techniques. I think overall the project has been my favourite so far as it has given my chance to try new techniques and new medias and to see which of them I am good at and which I need to work on.

Starting in textiles
In our first session of textiles we tried all the different techniques such as mark making where we used paint and different types of materials and objects to mark make with such as a fork or a button to make shapes and lines onto paper and other backgrounds.
Then we did batik where we used melted wax to make outlines on the paper or other material and then painted over it with ink and where the wax had set the ink would not touch it so it would stay white instead of the colour of the ink and we kept doing this, building up layers with different coloured inks.

Peter Clark
Peter Clark
is a collage artist who uses materials he can find such as post cards, maps,
scraps of tissue and wallpaper and any pieces of scrap materials that he can
find or that people have donated to him. He works with beaten up materials,
things that have been through life such as used wallpaper and newspaper. His
style of work is animals and everyday life but in collage where he uses pieces
of material connected to the animal like his British bull dog piece where he
used coloured pieces of paper that were connected to Britain such as the red,
blue and white for the united kingdom’s flag. Or folding the paper or materials
into shapes to give them a 3D effect like in his piece with the dresses where
he made the frills of the dress stand out or where he uses buttons as wheels. I
like his use of materials that he can find and make it from scraps of paper
into an animal with fine detail or bright colour.

arts and crafts project evaluation
Evaluation arts and crafts
For my arts and crafts project I had to first research the
two historical artists, William Morris and Charles Rennie Mackintosh. As far as
my research goes I could only get secondary research which was from google from
which I used websites such as Wikipedia and the official William Morris website
alongside the official MADart blog. In the project I chose William Morris as my
historical artist as I liked the different patterns and the defining detail
that he would put into his floral patterned wallpaper as well as my strong
point in the project being floral patterns. I put my mood boards together by
choosing the work of Morris I thought was most interesting and imaginative that
I could get different ideas from as well as come up with new ones. I decided on
my contemporary artist by looking through new and experimental contemporary
artists and chose Megan Aroon Duncanson or MADart as she is also known, I chose
MADart as her work also used a sort of floral patterns and bright vibrant
colours that I thought would bring some of Morris’s work to life a little more
when I would mix them together. Throughout the project we did different experiments
with different techniques such as mark making where we used different tools
such as straws, sponges and forks to make different marks in our work with
different paints. We also used a technique called Batik where we used heated
Parrafin wax from a wax pot to draw on our paper with and when the wax had
cooled it raised a little and acted as a barrier so the paint wouldn’t be able
to go over the wax on the paper making a pattern of sorts. Another technique we
used was puff binding where we used puff binder to draw a pattern on the paper
and when dried by the heat gun it would raise and stand out making it visible.
We also used peg looms and cardboard looms where we would make a pattern using
wool to weave a pattern and we used hand sewing to add detail to our work by
making a pattern in the drawing/painting with a different colour of wool.
Through the experimentation we had to sing in and out each time we entered and
left the room in case of a fire to show where we were in case anyone would need
to find us. We also had to be careful as we were dealing with boiling hot wax
that could burn us as well as having to wear an apron to protect our clothing
from being stained. I did not action any feedback from my peer assessment as I
was absent when the peer assessment took place. Within my designs my strengths
were the drawing of the pattern and the colouring of the pattern with pencil.
If I were to do the project again I would manage my time a lot more efficiently
and complete my homework on time to make sure the project was of a good
standard to add to my portfolio. In the project the designing of the work went
well but the completion of the work was not as good as it should have been on
my behalf. In my opinion my time
management was a little poor but I hope to improve that over the course and the
next project as much as I can.
